Business Owner, Steve Johnson, is currently at Euro Cucina in Milan to check the latest in furniture, kitchen and bathroom trends. The show has proved that even with all the doom and gloom of the slowing ecomony, people have flocked in the thousands to experience the latest design trends.
Euro Cucina is HUGE! 6 days to get through 22 halls of bathroom, kitchen and furniture displays is a feat in itself!
Trends I’ve seen for kitchens include:
- Matt white cabinetry with wood features to provide pop. The wood used is usually darker and thermally treated
- Glass fronted doors are HUGE, especially in white
- Cabinets are trending towards having no plinths and are hung off the wall
- Electrical appliances are still being hidden and retracable doors are here to stay
- Kitchen doors are getting thinner and aluminium frames are being used as supporting structures. I have seen aluminium frames used to hold 4mm glass, which provides a stunning door finish
- Ive also seen a spectacular sliding breakfast bar that slid over the hotplate and the sink with a retractible tap
- Island range hoods are big and bold, but when on a wall the trend is to have the hood hidden in a cabinet
- Finishing the internals of carcasses with lacquer and veneer is also trending. An expensive exercise, but it provides a real wow factor for a kitchen.
